Question 7
mamps@hotmail.co.uk mamps@hotmail.co.uk's Slidely by Slidely Slideshow
This slidely shows the progress i have made when it comes to these technoligies. I now understand the importance of layouts when it comes to making a magaziner and the use of appropriate pictures as you cann see towards the start of the course my skills were limited and the work i produced was baasic to say the least, i then went on to add approproate fonts which add to the genre and theme of my music magazine, i undestand the importance of pictures as they what make the magazine stand out and identifiable with the correct postures clothes and poses adding to the selected genre, it is vital to make adjustments to suit my target audience which i now think i have fulfilled.
Question 6
What have I learnt about new technoloigies?
Whilst the production of my magazine i have used a number of different technoigies and software, these have helped me to edit my magazine and make appropriate changes and alterations. The first technology i had to come to terms with was blogger. This is a quick and simple way in which to publish my work for it to be seen and to gain feedback in the comments section which allowed me to make appropriate changes to my media work. The first thing i used blogger for was to analyse a music magazine front cover which allowed me to gage ideas on how to present my very own front cover. It is clear to see with the progression of work that my technological capabilities have increased. Before i struggled with the orientation of my posts and the placement of pictures. I have also learnt about how to link other websites to my blog, some of these are programs like Prezi, Flikr and Soundcloud.
I have learnt to embed links to my blog which allows my bliog to be far more presentable and allwos me to use a wider range of technology, the same goes for programms such as prezi and thinglink.
Another technology i had to come to terms with is Prezi which allows me to present information in a far more organised fashion, it allowed me to add pictures and choose an appropraite theme depending on the context of the presentation, i had to learn how to imbed these onto my blogs appropraietly.
I also learnt to use programes such dafont which ultimately allowed me to make an approproate masthead and gage ideas of what would be suitable for my very own magazine, it has wide range of fonts which could be appropraite for many magazines depending on their genres and what fits the magazine best.
It has a wide range of choices withj many different styles which is able to download and incorporate this with what ever funtion they need it for.
Another technology i used was flikr qwhich was helpful when giving some orientation with the pictures i used and allowed me to gain feedback from this with the use of comments which allowed me to make appropraite improvemtns to the pictures i had already taken.

I have learnt how to edit work on firewroks apporpriately when it comes to adding pictures and effects to the page and what changes to make on how to make it look far more professional. In doing things like changing the font colour and size of the terxt and in which order i put my pictures with the buitmap orientation on the ride side of the page

Question 4
Who would be the audience for my media product?
My magazine appeals to those who are intersted in my niche which is urban grime,k and are into new and upcoming artists such as Tempa T and Bugzy Malone, it does not relate to the mainstream music, My magazine will appeal to teenagers around 14-24 as my genre is relatively new so would typically appeal to those of a younger genreation and largely males as most of grime artists are male and relate to hobbies and activities that males are into as a pose to females, males are typically the mass fan base for this genre so i adapted my magazine to appeal to them. Many of my target audience are into street fashion such as Bape which is features throughout my magazine which could potentially relate to my audience. The class and status in temrs of my audience, it would be fair to say it would appeal to those of a lowr class as many of the lyrics these artists make illustrate the struggle that these people went through which could strongly relate to my audience, these poeople are protrayed as young thugs who roam the streets most of these have an interst in thre lives of other people who grew up in deprived areas and are interested in their very own life experience from where they grew up places like Manchester, Birmingham and London.
The Look Of My Target Audience
These are the type of people who are into this Genre of music and arfe into other aspects of urban street culture including street c;othes including 'BAPE', things such as garments and trainers are very popular when coming to urban music ass style and ideologies are vital when relating to the streets as you can see my audience will tend to have a very unique style compared to other genres and are typically not from an upper class background therfore i have taken apporporaite measures to ensure my magazine appeals to them

In what ways does your media product, use, develop and challenge the forms and conventions of real media products?
When creating a magazine it is vital to take into consideration the different convention types, which will come together to make a magazine look professionally made and attractive to the user. Without taking these into consideration the magazine could potentially be hindered. Conventions could consist of a short and clear masthead, a large image of an artist relating to the magazine, an attractive colour scheme, a front cover that appeals to the user and makes them feel obliged to read it, headlines and cover lines.
I looked at various different magazine front covers including Vibe, Billboard and Grimedaily as they focus on the same type of genre as my magazine as well as liking the colour scheme and layout of these magazines. The front covers have a unique and original format with a different and more interesting picture of an artist coming with each addition of the magazine. They also follow the theme and genre of that selected magazine whilst also remaining attractive to the user.
Representation types
My magazine represents a relatively small social group that are into my genre of music (urban grime) it could be said to be a fast growing genre and has plenty of space on the market for it to be distributed. It could be said that my genre will appeal to the less privileged members of society and will allow them to relate to the artist which in turn will hopefully demonstrate the power of hard work. My target audience ages from 14-24 as many of these people will be students and will enjoy reading my magazine during their downtime, I have represented a modern day teen with a unique street fashion sense which is becoming more and more prominent during this era. My magazine largely represents males as the grime industry as well as the listeners are largely male. I have represented this by the use of tag names on my front cover such as 'Wavey J' and 'Tempz'.
I have used an image of someone called Jay who is a young black teen which is the stereotypical image of grime artists therefore is relevant to my magazine, I have used many pictures with many different poses which portray a mysterious persona of my artist and therefore creates a character which the magazine would give an insight to.
I wanted my audience to see a relatively young artist who has put in a lot of work to appear on magazines such as mine, I wanted people to take into consideration what the artist was wearing and how it relates to the magazine as a unique dress sense is intrinsically linked to a unique taste in music which is my genre or urban grime, also it would allow the reader to somewhat gage a relationship with the artist to an extent.
What kind of media institutions might distribute your product and why?
Bauer Media group is one of the largest media co-oprations in europe is a large European-based media company with 11000 employees, it ranges from a wide range of media products including 600 magazines, more than 400 digital products and 50 radio and TV insitutions from all over the globe. It joined the Bauer media group in January 2008. It is a multi platform based company in the UK with many diffeent companies mainly focusing on magazines and Radio. It has over 80 recognised brand names including Heat magzine. I have chosen Bauer instiutionas it disrtributes media on a wide range of platfroms therfore meaning my magazine will be seen and advrtised more efficently whilst also creating a wider audiecne for my product. They are also known to be very succesful and are responsible for the huge success of many magazines such as empire and karrang, my product will be a unique form of my magzen wll appeal to the users of this distribuion company with a huge gap in the market so would be very succesful if they were to distribute my magazine and will not clash with the other products.

Latest attempt at front cover
This is my latest attempt at my front cover, as you can see i have set a different picture for my main image as i ithough it would seem more appropriate given the theme of my magazine as well as making it look more attractive, i have put a fade affect behind my text just so that it is easier to read, i have made the link to the website smaller so it doesnt obstruct the picture the same goes for the price. I have bolded my headline and scetioned it out in a white box just to make the main headline and image coherent to each other.

Draft of my article
Wavey J
Starz: Wavey J, how do you feel this year has gone so far?
WJ: in all honesty, im not going to lie and say ‘do this and you’ll make it’ because that’s just not how it works, but if you believe in yourself and are passionate about what you’re doing, you stand a way better chance!
Starz: Thankyou for speaking to us J, good luck with the mixtape.
Double page spread layout
These double page spreads will prove effective as im fond of the mastheads being at the very top of the page therfore it will stand out and be relevent to the article, on all of my layouts the image is very close to the headline so it will match accordingly.
Double page spread moodboard
Most of these Double page spread consist of two colours such as black and white this could be because it matches the overall colour scheme of the magazine, or to make it stand out more on the page itself, all these pages have a relevent image and in some cases more than one image as to what and who the article is about, this gives the reader an instant insight as to what the article is about and the size of the image allows it to become clear even before the user has started reading the article, it could also be said that the anchorage text is consitstent as it is direct and clear to the article itself and relates strongly to the image being used, much of the text is in interview style so that the reader obviously knows that the article is an interview, some of these pages have the title in quotation marks which will give the reader the impression that it is specific to the artists.
Double Page spread analysis
This Double Page spread is from the very popluar Billboard magazine, the Titile of Rita Ora is in bold red text and covers the whole length of the two pages which will make it very clear as to what the contents of this double page is about
The actual interview has two colours to it, black and red this is effective as it is coherent to the title and the colours associated with the theme of the magazine and the image used in the double page spread, the4se two colours also allow the interview to be sectioned out in a way so it is made clear as to what are the questions and what are the answers therfore it is easy for the reader to understand,
The sectioning of this double page spread is also effective, seeing as many other pages like this have three columns on the same page which could be restrictive in terms of seeing the image, this particular double page spread has sectioned 2 of the the 4 columns on each page which allows the image to become more visable as well as not making the page look too cramped.

Contents page hand drawn mock ups
My first Mock up is fitting as the title at the top is clear and is easily identifiable with a clear structure as to the contents of the magazine, the side of the first mock up allows there to be images which would relate to the latest edition of the magazine, which will include popular artists from the coming weeks, it will also have a dfate in the corner so it is clear for the reader as to what edition the mgazine is allowing the reader to know what has occured since the last edition of the mgazine.
My second Mock up is a lot simpler than the first the banner on the left hand side allows it to be made very clear that it is a contents page, i have gone for a much simoler look as it will allow the contents to become far clearer as there is not too much going on around the page numbers so it could potentially be a lot easier to comprehend. Finally my last Mock up encorperates features from my first and second into one, as you can see the coulor scheme has stayed consistent to my theme with the red and black, the banner at the top makes it very clear as to what the page is with the page numbers and the contents of pages coming accordingly, much like my first mock up i have put an image box on the right of the page which could potentially add some attraction to the page dfepending on what the image is, at the moement i have thought to put a poular artist there so it will attract reader to look at the overall contents of the page.
